One aim of the network is to bring together existing knowledge about threshold spaces, and to generate new research questions about museum foyers. One of the challenges undertaken at the Round table was to brainstorm the current gaps in knowledge and challenges for the interdisciplinary research that we need to understand museum foyers more fully.

Our top research question was:
What is the relationship between foyers and thresholds?
As you'll see we concluded that thresholds are conceptual spaces of transition, and foyers are one, physical space which visitors move through in that process of entering and exiting the exhibition spaces of a museum from the world outside.
